may22ndfeaturewinners.gif

(Peebles, Ohio) Many were left wondering if Brushchreeek Motorsports Complex would be able to run Saturday May 22, after severe storms dumped  torrential rains on the 1/3 mile speed plant late Friday night. Owner/promoter Tom Partin made the announcement early Saturday morning that the "Adams County Business" night at Brushcreek would go off as scheduled. Shortly after the announcement Tom and his track crew began to prepare the track for the nights festivities.

As the warm afternoon faded into night action heated up on the high banks of the 1/3 mile speed plant 3 miles south of Peebles, Ohio. Dayton, Ohio's Chad Smith stormed to the late model feature win. Milford Ohio's Dustin Webber thundered to the Modified feature win. Peebles Ohio's Dave Jamison roared to legend feature win. While Sardinia, Ohio's Mark Keatzel charged to the bomber feature win and Bainbridge, Ohio's Rex Smith Jr. battled to another crazy compact feature win.

Billy Gullion and Josh Tidwell brought the late model feature field to the green. Gullion jumped out to the early lead followed by Josh Tidwell, Chad Smith, and Mike Myers. Gullion continued to stretch his lead over the first twelve laps, working his way out to a straight away lead over the field as Smith and Tidwell battled for second. The action was slowed with a lap thirteen caution when leader Gullion spun in turn two after he made contact with the Paul Moore who he was trying to put a lap down. Charged with the caution Gullion was sent to the tail.

On the restart, Smith shot into turn one with Tidwell to his inside. The duo came down the back stretch side by side. Smith would gain a slight advantage out of turn four when the action was slowed with a caution that waved for Brandon Webber who had looped his #66 machine.

On the restart, Smith jumped out to a slight lead over Tidwell. Tidwell continued to chase Smith when a late race caution waved for Darren Kattine who slowed on the front stretch. The field was quickly realigned for a two lap shoot out.

On the restart, Tidwell looked under Smith but Smith would maintain a slight advantage out of two. Tidwell would get under Smith again in three and four but Smith would maintain the lead as the duo took the white flag. Smith held on over the final lap to pick up his first feature win of the season. Following Smith across the line were Josh Tidwell, Mike Myers, Billy Gullion, and Mark Morrison rounding out the top five.

Dustin Webber and Josh Edmisten brought the modified feature field to the green. Webber jumped out to the early lead while Edmisten and Weasel Rhoades battled for second just two car lengths back. Rhoades slid by Edmisten on lap three while front running Webber worked his way out to a three car length lead. The action was slowed with a lap four caution when Thomas Sigler spun on the front stretch.

Webber worked his way out to a six car length lead as Edmisten and Rhoades battled side by side. A late race caution waved when Nick Hodges spun in turn four. The caution set up a two lap shoot out.

On the restart, Webber jumped out to the lead while Rhoades looked to the outside of second running Edmisten. Webber continued to hold the lead as Rhoades and Edmisten were side by side coming to the white flag. Webber stretched his lead out to four car lengths down the back stretch as Rhoades looked outside of Edmisten. Rhoades had to monetarily get off the gas when he nearly went over the back stretch. Webber held on to take his first feature win of the season. Following Webber across the line were Edmisten, Rhoades, Mark Dickson, and Mike Gross.

Rex Smith Jr. and Tyler Smith brought the crazy compact feature field to the green. At the drop of the green the two brothers battled side by side. Over the first three circuits the duo put six car lengths between themselves and the second place battle of Jim Chandler and Paul Nicely. Rex Smith got loose in turn four forcing brother Tyler to get off the gas. Rex got his 11s machine straightened coming out of four to take the lead across the line on lap five. Once in front Rex began to stretch his lead. Rex would cruise to his third straight feature win. Following Rex across the line were Paul Nicely, Jim Chandler and James Occonnel rounding out the top five.

Over the first three circuits Gutman lead Partin and Jamison. Jamison slid by Partin for second on lap four. Once in second Jamison looked under front running Gutman as they ran down the back stretch, but Gutman would continue to hold a slight advantage. Jamison would continue to work on Gutman over the next six circuits before finally making the pass for the lead on lap ten. A lap twelve caution for debris would momentarily slow the action.

On the restart, Jamison maintained a slight advantage over Gutman and Partin. Jamison maintained about a car length lead over Gutman over the final laps to pick up his third feature win this season. Following Jamison across the line were John Gutman, Tom Partin, Jake Miller and Steven Partin rounding out the top 5.
