Jamison, Rhoades, Partin, Chesser, and Johnson Claim Opening Night Wins at Brushcreek (Peebles, Ohio)-
The thunder of race engines roared through the valley and smell of racing fuel filled the air as the 1/3 mile speed plant
3 miles south of Peebles, Ohio roared back to life on Saturday April 18.
Jenera, Ohio's Clint Jamison stormed to the
opening night late model feature win, his second consecutive opening night late model feature win at "The Creek". Winchester,
Ohio's John "Weasel" Rhoades roared to the modified feature win. West Union, Ohio's Tom Partin charged to the legend feature
win. While Aaron Chesser blitzed the bomber field to pick up the opening night feature win and Piketon, Ohio's Randy Johnson
roared to the opening night crazy compact feature win.
As the late model field was getting ready to take the green
outside pole sitter Brett Kennard dropped to the back of the field, relinquishing his front row starting position to Flemingsburg,
Kentucky's Arnie Fields. At the drop of the green flag front row starters Clint Jamison and Fields shot into turn one with
Jamison emerging from turn two with a slight lead over Fields, Paul Moore and Darrin Kattine. Jamison held his advantage for
the first six, when a caution waved for Chris Kirker who had looped his #19mc in turn two. On the restart, Jamison held the
advantage over Fields, Moore, Kattine and Weasel Rhoades. Second running Fields continuously pressured front runner Jamison
as Moore and Kattine waged a battle for third. A late race caution waved when Moore's mount went around. On the restart, Jamison
again was able to maintain a slight advantage over Fields and held him off over the final few laps to pick up the win. Following
Jamison across the line were Arnie Fields, Darran Kattine, Paul Moore, who stormed back after being charged with a late race
caution and Cody Enlow rounding out the top five.
Peebles Ohio's Dave Jamison and Winchester Ohio's Weasel Rhoades
were scheduled to bring the modified feature to the green. As they exited turn four coming to the green an anxious Jamison
got on the gas early and was charged with jumping the start, resulting in a two spot penalty. Now it was Rhoades and Brad
White on the front row when the feature event went green. Rhoades jumped out to an early lead as White, Brian Whiteman and
Mike Poe battled for second. A quick caution waved on lap two when Rob Day spun around entering turn one. On the restart,
Rhoades once again jumped out to the lead as a three way battle for second brewed. The race went green over the next five
circuits until Davey Warnock went around in turn three bringing out the caution. On the restart, it was Rhoades once again
pulling to about a two car length lead as now a four way battle for second brewed. White, Poe, Whiteman and Jamison sliced
and diced side by side for the next four laps before White was able to pull slightly out of the pack, leaving Jamison, Poe
and Whiteman to battle it out for third. White would keep front runner Rhoades in his sights, but was unable to mount a charge
for the lead. Rhoades held on for the win. Following Rhoades across the line were Brad White, Dave Jamison, Mike Poe, and
Mike Gross rounding out the top five.
Bob McCane and John Gutman brought the legend feature to the green. At the drop
of the green it was new comer McCane taking the advantage. McCane held the point for the first eight circuits, until fourth
starting Tom Partin claimed the lead on lap nine. The caution would wave two laps later when second running McCane spun in
turn three. On the restart, Partin was able to maintain his advantage and hold on to pick up the opening night legend feature
win. Following Partin across the line were John Gutman, Gary Rowland, Troy Dotson, and Bob McCane rounding out the top five.
Aaron Chesser and Mark Keatzel brought the Bomber feature field to the green. Chesser jumped out to the early lead,
but the action was quickly halted with a red flag when Ed Haines rolled off the backstretch. Haines was ok and once his car
was removed the feature event was restarted. On the restart, Chesser again jumped out to the early lead and never looked back.
Chesser cruised to the feature win. Following Chesser across the line were Mark Keatzel, Dan Reno, Todd Hickerson, and Mike
Heisler.
Randy Johnson and Jim Chandler brought the crazy compact feature to the green. Johnson jumped out to the early
lead while Chandler and Gary Rowland battled for second. Johnson cruised to the opening night crazy compact feature win followed
by, Jim Chandler, Gary Rowland, Eric Baker, and Rusty Demint rounding out the top five.
